Creative Connection Cards

A practical tool to generate new concepts and visuals for any graphic design challenge.

These cards and app are especially for graphic designers. There are 107 cards and each one contains an instruction, advice, and examples to help create new connections—which are the key to creative solutions.

There are other decks of cards and apps for creatives, but we created this tool especially for graphic designers. All the strategies, methods, and techniques have been tailored to be useful for working on any communication design challenge.

On each card in the deck and app you will find a description of a creative method along with a question to consider, an example, or some advice to help you implement the method.

This tool can be used whenever you need to think about a design problem.The methods can used literally, or as starting points to help you think of new ideas. You can randomly choose cards, or find and save your favorites.

The Creative Connection Cards were created by Anitra Nottingham and Jeremy Stout.

We are design educators, and always looking for practical ways to teach creative strategies. These cards come from extensive research and many years of practical design experience in the professional and academic worlds. Once we got started with these methods we had to force ourselves to stop at 107.
