Hi, I’m Anitra. I am currently Online Director and Co-Chair of the School of Graphic Design and Digital Media at the Academy of Art University (AAU) San Francisco. I am an alum of the Design School at Monash University, and hold a masters degree from the University of Melbourne’s Graduate School of Education.
I have a wide range of communication design experience in a variety of roles. I’ve been a Senior Book Designer for Oxford University Press, and Penguin Books Australia, as well as Creative Director for a small design studio, and Design Manager for the large software company Intuit (makers of Quicken and Turbo Tax).
I’ve taught graphic design since 2002, and I currently Co-Chair the School of Design at AAU where I manage curriculum and the online students, as well as build and teach various classes, including research methods, branding, typography, and design history. I supervise graduate students, the full-time online faculty and an international team of over 30 adjuncts. I work closely with the Onsite Director and the Online Education team who build and maintain AAU’s online classes. I sit on the Online Academic Steerage Committee which works to improve the university’s online teaching and learning experiences.
I live in Melbourne, Australia, and I thoroughly enjoy the kind of problem-solving and diplomacy necessary to work remotely keeping a large, distributed organization running smoothly.
